The Audi "VR Experience"
Audi "VR experience"
In an era in which cars can be conveniently purchased with the click of a mouse, manufacturers and dealers must respond to customers’ growing need for digital solutions at dealerships too by offering services they are familiar with from other industries. In the interest of permanently improving the customer experience in physical showrooms, the innovative virtual reality application “Audi VR experience” combines the real with the virtual world. Car buyers can use it during their consultation with a salesman to gain a highly realistic, 3D experience of a vehicle model configured according to their preferences — including impressive lighting and audio effects that round out the visual experience. With the “Audi VR experience,” any model in the entire range can be configured with any available options as desired. This way, the salesman at the dealership can show the great variety of the Audi range and give visitors expert advice tailored to their individual needs. Being able to experience a new car in advance and make adjustments to the optional equipment and features before it is delivered can also represent significant added value and create greater customer loyalty.

The virtual reality application is part of the digital retail concept for Audi dealership partners, which aims to build on the strengths of brick-and-mortar retail by using innovative technologies. All of the hardware modules are being rolled out by the business unit Corporate Information Management of Arvato SCM Solutions. The unit has so far brought the digital retail modules to selected auto dealerships in Germany, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Canada — with great success and more countries expected to follow at a gradual pace. Arvato is responsible for both the physical and the digital supply chain management and sees to it that the modern showroom operates smoothly — with services that range from sales, storage and distribution to virtual reality headsets, key-user training and IT operations and support.
